40th Annual TJA Conference

May 4-8, 2026 • San Marcos, TX

Welcome to the
40th Annual TJA Conference

Hello TJA family,

Welcome to the 40th Anniversary of the TJA Annual Conference. What tremendous strides and accomplishments this organization has made since its founding on June 4, 1986. The founding members would be proud of the progress reached in supporting the men and women who work in our jails, and we remain committed to continuing this important work. We hope you enjoy your 40th Anniversary Commemorative cup you should have received with your conference packet.

This year, we’re proud to welcome over 550 attendees with a completely sold-out exhibit hall. Our agenda is packed with excellent training sessions and valuable networking opportunities. We encourage everyone to download the TJA conference app to review the schedule, event details, and any important updates. TJA is proud to offer a robust training program with a wide range of relevant topics for our attendees. Additionally, we extend our heartfelt thanks to Sheriff Anthony Hipolito and the staff of the Hays County Sheriff’s Office for their continued support, assistance, and hospitality while providing informative tours of the Hays County Jail.

Our annual Jerry Baggs Memorial Golf Tournament will take place on Monday. Special thanks to Past President Edwardo Jackson for his continued efforts to ensure its success. These proceeds will go toward the Jerry Baggs Scholarship Fund, which sponsors the attendance of select TJA members to attend the TJA Annual Conference to further their professional education and growth.

This year’s keynote speaker is Daron Hall, Sheriff of the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office in Nashville, Tennessee, along with several of his staff. A native Nashvillian, Sheriff Hall earned a bachelor’s degree in criminology from Western Kentucky University. Before being sworn in, he worked under three Davidson County sheriffs. His private-sector experience includes serving as program director for CoreCivic in Brisbane, Australia. His commitment to public service and leadership has had a lasting impact, and we are honored to have him with us. Join us Monday evening at 5:00 PM for the Annual Jack Crump Scholarship Fundraiser BBQ. A huge thank you to our cooks, Jim Sylvester and Bill Rhyan of Rhyan Technology Services.

Tuesday, the exhibit hall will open; be sure to take time to visit our business partners, whose tremendous support plays a vital role in TJA and in the success of jail operations. The Annual TJA Blood Drive will be held outside in the parking lot, and we encourage you to consider donating to help save a life. All successful donors will be entered in a drawing to win $100. While you’re outside, don’t miss the opportunity to try the driving simulator. To wrap up the day, join us Tuesday evening for the Singles Cornhole Tournament.

On Wednesday, attendees will have the opportunity to participate in jail tours, attend a variety of breakout sessions, and engage with interactive experiences including the driving simulator and the Jail Standards Showdown game, grab you a teammate and sign up! Wednesday evening, we will have the Levi Vance Cornhole Tournament. Thank you to Director Levi Vance for starting and continuing the cornhole tournament for our members.

Thursday morning begins with our Prayer Breakfast, held in Veramendi Ballroom from 7:00 AM to 8:00 AM, offering a meaningful opportunity to come together in fellowship and reflection. Following breakfast, we will gather for our Sheriffs’ and Jail Administrators group photo, an opportunity to capture this year’s conference memories. The evening will conclude with our dinner and banquet, followed by the highly anticipated Casino Night- another exciting chance to relax, connect, and enjoy the night with fellow attendees.

The closing session on Friday morning will be “Gangs and Social Media,” presented by Noe Enciso, Juan Garza, and Antolin Torres. Thank you to all attendees for being part of the TJA Conference. Your participation, engagement, and commitment are what make this event such a success. We would like to take this opportunity to extend our appreciation to all the sponsors and contributors whose generosity and support helped make this conference possible. Without your commitment and partnership, this event would not be what it is today. Thank you for helping us create such a meaningful and impactful experience.

Sincerely,
